Editing a video (*.wmv) without re-encoding

I had a need recently to perform some simple editing of an existing Windows Media Video file (*.wmv). I did not want to re-encode the entire file, I just wanted to remove the first 20 seconds of the video. After some searching, I found the following helpful post:

I did the following to successfully edit the video:

1. Download and install Expression Encoder 4 (installing the free version without keys was sufficient)
2. Created a new video project
3. Import the existing *.wmv video
4. On the Encode tab (at the right of the screen), chose "Source" for both Video and Audio (see screenshot)
5. Clicked the Encode button at the bottom of the screen

The new *.wmv was automatically saved to:

C:\Users\user\Documents\Expression\Expression Encoder\Output\MACHINENAME 2-17-2014 9.04.31 AM
