Love like a child

Early this morning, I learned a profound lesson from a child. Yesterday we had a stray kitten, which could not have been more than a few months old, wander into our yard. We told the kids that we could not keep it. Most of them held it at one point or another, but we tried to limit the attachment. It was meowing right outside our back door when we all went to bed. During the middle of the night, one of our four-year old children awoke. This particular child can be rough around the edges at times, but he has a heart of gold. I sleepily got up to help him back to bed. With him wrapped snugly in his favorite blanket (that he sleeps with every night), I eagerly returned to my own bed for a few more hours of rest. A short time later, my alarm rang and I wearily arose to start a new day. As I walked through the dark and quiet house, I noticed that the outside light was on and the back door was unlocked. I went to my son's bedroom to check on him. To my surprise, I found the kitten laying at the foot of the bed covered delicately with my son's favorite blanket. My heart was touched as my son, sleeping soundly at the other end of the bed, taught me about love. It is no surprise that the Master invited all of us to become like little children (http://bit.ly/1EsrUr6). #LoveLikeAChild
